While we don’t have to spend a lot of our time and mental energy worrying about our driveways, occasional and deliberate maintenance can save is a great deal of money in the long run. So what kind of maintenance does a driveway need?
First of all, cleaning is important. A garden hose and a light detergent will do fine. Pressure washers tend to cause more damage than good. Then there are cracks. As soon as a crack is found, it is important to seal it. Exterior grade concrete sealant for concrete driveways, and pavement sealer for blacktop driveways.
Then there are plants. Plants should be removed immediately. The longer they grow, the larger the issues they cause. Also, if you have a blacktop driveway, sealing it every few years can preserve your driveway for many years to come.
