It may not seem like much, but the hangers you put your clothes on are worth investing in quality. You don’t want to ruin a beautiful dress or quality suit because you put them on a bad hanger. Wire hangers, for example, just aren’t sturdy enough to properly hold your clothes without damaging or warping the shape of the fabric. Unfortunately, there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to hangers. Different hangers have different specific uses.
While plastic hangers aren’t as nice as others, a decent plastic hanger will work for most items such as T-shirts, blouses, and formal shirts without having to worry. A step up, but still affordable, is a felt hanger. Felt hangers provide more grip than plastic, which makes your clothes stay put. These are especially helpful for smoother fabrics and lighter items. Lastly, wooden hangers are generally the best option since they are sturdy and while not tough on fabrics. With wider shoulders, they mirror the shape of your shoulders and maintain the shape of even your best clothes.
