When your toilet starts bubbling, what does it mean? You might have seen or heard it happen while showering but not thought much about it.
If it does happen consistently, there are a few possible reasons why this would be the case. What actually happens is that the gas that is inside of your pipes is forced out the easiest way possible. Often, this will be your toilet since it has a wider pipe. Usually, this gas is pushed out through the vent pipe. Vent pipes are there specifically for pressure issues, but if they are blocked, the gas will find another way to escape when water comes down the pipe.
Checking your vent pipe might be difficult, especially on a multi-story home, but there is a possibility that a bird or some rodent made a nest inside of the pipe. Clearing this up will not just stop the bubbling in your toilet, it will also make the water drain faster throughout your home.
